The briefing took place on Wednesday, February 11, at 9:00 a.m. in Rayburn House Office Building Room 2044.<\/p>\n<p>Panelists <a href=\"https:\/\/vcresearch.berkeley.edu\/faculty\/elena-conis\">Elena Conis<\/a> (Univ. of California, Berkeley), <a href=\"https:\/\/med.nyu.edu\/faculty\/david-m-oshinsky\">David M. Oshinsky<\/a> (New York Univ.), and\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarworks.brandeis.edu\/esploro\/profile\/michael_willrich\/overview\">Michael Willrich<\/a> (Brandeis Univ.) discussed the history of vaccines against diseases including smallpox, polio, and measles. The briefing also explored the public\u2019s perception of vaccines and how the role of the federal government in vaccine development and distribution has changed over time. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historians.org\/person\/sarah-weicksel\/\">Sarah Weicksel<\/a>, AHA executive director, served as moderator.<\/p>\n<p>You can access the handout developed for the briefing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historians.org\/resource\/history-of-vaccines\/\">AHA\u2019s Resource Library<\/a>.
